If you live near Stone and are considering getting your teeth straightened, you might be wondering what options are available. Essentially, tooth straightening methods have not changed for thousands of years. There is evidence of the fact that ancient Egyptian civilisations were using applied pressure to achieve a more attractive positioning of the teeth all those years ago.
These days, however, you don’t have to use wooden splints or fingers to reach your goal of a more beautiful smile. Braces will take away the hassle from you, so you can go about your normal daily routine, safe in the knowledge that your braces are providing you with a comfortable and effective tooth straightening treatment.
Traditional braces consist of brackets which are firmly bonded to the front surfaces of your teeth and have a wire threaded through them. These types of systems are very reliable, but they are prominent in the mouth. There is no escaping, or hiding from the fact, that you’re wearing pretty heavy-duty orthodontic equipment.
The brackets may scratch the inside of your mouth at first and the sensation of wearing them may take some getting used to, but they are a cost-effective option.
Obviously, with these braces in place, you might find it more difficult to keep your teeth as clean as you could previously, and they also tend to trap the food.
Your teeth may need a thorough cleanup once your treatment is over because your tooth surfaces will have been partially covered with brackets for a few months, and those areas will be unreachable with your toothbrush.
Invisalign braces fit differently. They consist of aligner trays, which look like thin mouthguards and are worn over the teeth. As they are translucent and custom-made, they are hard to see once they’re in place, and for this reason, they are very discreet.
The Invisalign system from our Stone practice can remedy a multitude of orthodontic concerns and, in some circumstances, can do it quicker than traditional braces. One of the biggest advantages of Invisalign braces is that they are removable. You will take the trays out to eat and brush your teeth. This avoids the need for social awkwardness with braces in place and will enable you to keep your teeth thoroughly clean, as well as your breath fresh, throughout the treatment period.
If you’re looking for a discreet, comfortable and effective alternative to traditional braces, you’ve found it. Give our Stone-based reception team a call to book yourself in for an initial consultation.
